This morning as I sat down with a cup of tea (Moon Palace Green), I happen to find an article about the ten top beauty buys of 2011. While there were some good ideas that came a hefty price tag like red lipstick for $90, it got me to wondering. How do we define beauty?
Being a bigger women, I would find that people would often tell me that beauty comes from inside. While I do believe that is one source of beauty, it is not what we are shown everyday in the media. How many of us including myself has fallen into the trap that if we lost weight we would be more popular or more beautiful. In my case, I became a skinnier computer geek. :) While I am not saying that losing weight is a bad thing, however let's do it for the right reasons, being healthier, living longer and being more active. Let's not do it for the image people want to see. We should set our own definition of beauty.
Now I am no expert when it comes to this. As I do lose my weight, I am seem to change every time I look in the mirror. I know I am still in the process of finding my inner beauty and still dealing with the fact that I still see myself as my original weight. I am still looking for my style in clothing and even in handbags ( I think I like the vintage handbags). However every day is a step forward because I realize that not only is the outside that is changing, but the inside also. So the definition is beauty is a work of art that is always changing. So let's stop comparing ourselves to models and movie stars and realize that each of us are a wonderful work of art on inside as well as the outside
