I am Jessica and I am going on a journey to lose 300 lbs. On July 20th, I will have gastric bypass surgery. I have been preparing for this for just about 2 years and it is finally happening. I am nervous and elated. What will it be like to be 150 lbs again?
I came to the decision to have weight loss surgery a year after being diagnosed with PCOS (poly cystic ovary syndrome). I did my research and spent the following year trying medicine and medically managed weight loss. But nothing worked. It was not an easy decision t0 come to since we are led to believe that diet and exercise will result in weight loss. If you don't lose weight you are considered a failure or lazy or both. Society deems overweight people lazy, stupid and unhealthy. I am far from any of those, but I also realized that my weight is going to shorten my life. I want to be here to live my life to a ripe old age, so the decision to use any means necessary to lose the weight was an easy one.
I definitely have some goals as I lose the weight. Here are a few :
- Buy thigh high boots and a corset
- Learn how to in line skate
- Sky Dive
- Ski
- Learn to scuba dive
- Go horse back riding
