One week ago, I had my rouen Y gastric bypass surgery. It was successful, even though the doctor kept me an extra night. The last week has been a challenge. One because of the drain that needs to be removed tomorrow and the pain in has caused. The first three days, not only was it painful, but I forgot to take my pepcid pill and had an extremely painfully gas attack. However, as the week progressed the pain lessen and I felt much better. I have learned that I prefer beef broth and lime jello.
During this week, I have been looking at the diet for the rest of the six weeks. The diet given to me and the diets I found on line lacked one thing. TASTE. So I started to think about the dishes that Dan and I liked from different cultures. Dishes like Dal from India and Sushi from Japan. I started to research low fat, low sugar recipes. I found wonderful soups ranging from carrot ginger to pumpkin tofu for the next stage of the diet. I also found interesting sugar free sweets also for the next stage. All the dishes can have extra protein added to them by adding skim powdered milk. Dan and I are going to start to experiment with these tomorrow. I also found some other recipes that will help in the puree stage. Dishes that involve lentils and tofu. I will let you know how each of these recipes turn out.
I think people believe that after weight loss surgery, that your diet has to become bland and uninteresting. That is myth is given credence by nutritionist that seem to forget that there is such a world of flavors and taste that can be used. There are other sources of protein then meat. If my food intake is going to be restricted then I want each bite to count.
As my journey continues, I am going to post my progress along with recipes and information on spices and interesting information I find
REMEMBER
MAKE EVERY BITE COUNT
